OFFICE OF GREEK LIFE
454-2736

Greetings to the Greek Community:

It is indeed a pleasure to see the University of
Maryland Greek system produce another issue of the Frieze.
The fact that members of fraternities and sororities are
concerned about the events and people associated with all
of the chapters is one of the reasons that a strong community
spirit exists among Greeks.

This year has seen the Greek System build to a total
membership of 2,600 people in 53 chapters. The Frieze makes
it possible to review the events and people who have made this
a most memorable year for all of us. We sincerely hope that
each of you will build on these experiences to enjoy continued
success and happiness.

of Campus Activities

Making friends

For the world to see.

Let the people know

We got what we need.

With a friend at hand

You will see the light.

If your friends are there

Then everything's all right.

We get drunk.

We go to sleep.
When we sleep

We commit no sin.

and go to heaven!

Special thanks to Mr. Leber and University Press

82

And so another year has ended and the University of Maryland closes
another chapter to the Maryland story. The 1978 Frieze has become
another link in the recorded histories of the school. May it provide
many hours of reading and remembering, not only now, but in years to
come. It is our wish that success and good fortune come to those who
will be leaving. To those who will be returning to campus , we hope
that your endeavors in your college careers are that of fulfillment
and pleasure.

We have made a sincere attempt to capture the Greek system in its
everyday movements. We do know that the entire student body will not
be satisfied with this book, and that it is inevitable that there will
be mistakes and oversights. But if in years to come if you are able
to look back at this book and possibly remember and smile, then this

publication will have been a success.
